思科系统(中国)研发有限公司, 是美国思科系统公司 (Cisco Systems, Inc., Nasdaq:CSCO) 的全资子公司, 是经上海市外国投资工作委员会批准、上海市工商行政管理局登记注册,于2005年8月2日在上海市漕河泾经济技术开发区独资设立的全球性研发中心。通过近几年分别并购了在独自的市场和技术领域内遥遥领先的科学亚特兰大公司(Scientific Atlanta) 及网讯公司 (Webex),使得思科在中国的研发力量超过了1700人,以上海漕河泾总部为核心 (近800人),网讯研发另分布在杭州、合肥、苏州等城市,成为思科公司在美国本土之外的第二大研发中心。2008年初,思科系统(中国)研发有限公司的总体注册投资战略性的增加到了1亿美元。

Cisco International Cable Set-Top Business Unit (ICBU) develops leading-edge cable and satellite set top box solutions for markets outside of the US and Canada. A complete portfolio of products is offered, ranging from simple “zapper” or broadcast set-top boxes right through to Digital Video Recorders (DVRs) complete with third party middleware and interactive applications. Our products allow service providers to supply video, data and the “connected home experience” to cable subscribers world wide. Allowing people instant access to video and data when they want it, where they want it on the device of their own choosing.

ERBU

The Edge Routing Business Unit (ERBU) delivers dynamic edge products and solutions that couple IP services and intelligence at the edge.

The products in CRDC ERBU fall into 3 categories: session border controller (SBC), IP Radio Access Network (RAN), ASR1K Unified Communication (UC) applications. SBC Enables Direct IP to IP Interconnect between multiple administrative domains for session based services providing: Protocol Interworking, Security, Admission Control and Management. Cisco’s IP RAN solution supports the industry’s accelerating migration toward IP by taking it all the way to the cell site. This enables the operator to reduce backhaul costs, improve cell site maintenance, and support additional services. IP RAN solution covers GSM, UMTS and CDMA networks. ASR1K UC applications provide a generic framework/controlled API to host UC applications on Cisco’s new line of industry-leading aggregation routers - ASR1K.

CISCO Internet Systems Business Unit (ISBU) develops High-speed Internet Systems enabling Internet Business Solutions with Intelligent Network services and uncompromised performance. CABLE


Cisco Cable Engineering Group provides worldwide service providers with intelligent broadband edge solutions from cable modem termination systems (CMTSs) such as the Cisco uBR10012 and uBR7246VXR Universal Broadband Routers. The high end Cisco uBR10012 router uses advanced network processors for layer 3 and DOCSIS processing and the mid range Cisco uBR7246VXR router runs advanced Cisco IOS routing software on general purpose high speed MIPS processors.

Layer 3 DOCSIS and Packet Cable-qualified Cisco uBR CMTS routers are the only Intelligent Broadband Edge products on the market today that offer an extensive feature set including voice support for cable systems, multicast, IPv6, fault tolerance and advanced QoS and spectrum management to support triple play (high speed data, voice, video), along with high processing performance to improve overall bandwidth availability and system reliability.

CRDC CABLE product engineering team concentrates on Software and Hardware/FPGA Development, Testing and Product Marketing for the Cisco Cable uBR CMTS routers. Since the group started here more than 3 years ago, the team has delivered a new platform uBR7225VXR, and is finishing up a new DOCSIS3.0 line card that has the market potential of 100 million US dollars a year. It will also have great market potential in the transitioning state of the China cable broadband market and the Cisco China 3.0 initiatives

ANBU


Cisco Access Network Business Unit (ANBU) focuses to build the access network architecture CATV Cable operators need to meet the bandwidth crunch. Cable operators continue to expand their operations to include high-speed data and voice services, while Telco operators are announcing plans to launch video service. To keep existing customers and attract new ones, cable operators are expanding HDTV and on-demand video service and adding voice service.
The result traffic is growing at 15 percent a year and a bandwidth crunch is becoming apparent. A trend that is emerging to meet this bandwidth challenge is smaller service groups and taking fiber deeper into the network.
