Hangzhou Research & Development Center

NSN Hangzhou R&D site focuses on software technologies for mobile radio networks. It is part of NSN's global R&D for 2.5G, 3G and Wimax network infrastructure. Our Radio Access enjoys a world leading portfolio which supports all the key radio access technologies: GSM/EDGE, WCDMA 3G/HSPA, TD-SCDMA, WiMAX and LTE.
GSM/EDGE: Low cost/highly optimized mobile voice and basic data system
WCDMA: Best combined voice & packet data system.
HSPA brings it to Broad Band Acess
LTE: Evolution of 2G/3G to highest performance mobile broadband
WiMAX: Mobile broadband for operators without 3G spectrum
CDMA: Operators starting to invest in GSM/EDGE overlays for voice. Broadband evolution to WCDMA/HSPA, LTE or WiMAX

The mission of Radio Access is to become number 1 in all addressed radio technologies. We will achieve this by having highly motivated, world best radio professionals to join our team.

Chengdu Research & Development Center

NSN OBS (Operations and Business Software) Chengdu R&D unit develops network management solutions to improve our customers' business performance through interoperable software to automate operations and business processes.

NWID part:
Network Integrations R&D's mission is to ensure cost efficient and high quality development and maintenance of NetAct adaptations and mediations. We improve continuously our development activities by rationalisation, harmonisation and increasing automation level.

SD part:
The mission of System Development is to develop high quality, cost efficient, modular and productized computing and system platform for NetAct adaptation and application development giving high customer satisfaction. Requirement analysis, software verification and development and test automation are the tasks we carry out on a daily basis.

Beside these 2 parts, we also have Technical Support business line with us.

Managed Services Business

Managed Services is taking care of network operations related processes for telecommunication companies, driving forward the evolving business with network operation solutions, and helps to plan and optimize communications networks.

Our managed services expertise covers the entire range of network technology - be it mobile or fixed networks, 2G or 3G, Voice over IP, cable or mobile train communications. We provide managed services for own as well as 3rd party products. Activities include network surveillance, fault management and optimization via network operation centers (NOCs), (multi-vendor) maintenance, as well as fully-provided applications, e.g. music and video download. Network operation service and network planning and optimization service are main business of managed services in China.

Our strategic intent and direction for China is to strengthen & continue to grow our highly profitable NPO (network planning and optimization) business, be a key partner to our operators by leveraging on our globally rich & experienced managed services (i.e. GNOC, Remote Delivery Centers, Network Operations contracts and new solutions such as Energy Management and Service Management) and working closely with our local partners to create an operationally cost efficient, high quality and value propositions for our operators. We strongly believe Managed Services has a great potential for growth and in the coming years.

RTP

In COO, Research Technology and Platforms (RTP) drives Nokia Siemens Networks leadership through innovation. RTP supports all Business Units in their efforts to serve fixed, mobile and integrated operators and other service providers around the globe. We cooperate with universities, IT industry, and IPR and standardization bodies. Our task is to ensure that we as a company have world leading technology, capabilities and optimum synergies across the Business Units.

The Nokia Siemens Networks Carrier Switches solution is in a leading position to master the challenges which the new generation of converged services (Telephony, Internet, and Information & Entertainment services) imposes on the next generation Carrier Metro, Core, and Mobile networks.
