Responsibilities include:
· Designing new software solutions or modifying existing solutions to ensure proper functionality in earlier (customer deployed) software releases.
· Participate in the troubleshooting and solving of complex software and system issues encountered in customer sites.
· Assistance with issue resolution may include analyzing and identifying problems using advanced debugging skills and tools, recreating these problems in a Lab environment, locating the flaw in software and finally, generating and testing software fixes to correct the flaw. Interfacing with other team members and people in other groups will be necessary.

Qualifications:

Contributes to test plan evolution for the above-named tools.

Maintains the PDS catalogue as the tool prime for the above-named tools.
Experience is some aspect of circuit board design (either logical design or physical layout) is desirable but not essential.
Skill in programming using C, Perl, Lisp or other programming languages is desirable, but not essential.
It is necessary that the successful candidate be conversant in English, both spoken and written.
Proven experience in the installation of Engineering Design Automation (EDA) tools will be a definite asset for the successful candidate. If there is no experience in the installation of EDA tools, these skills can be learned on the job by a candidate with experience in the UNIX, Windows, and Linux operating systems, and the ability to write scripts in for example C Shell in UNIX.

Short description:
You will develop, enhance and support software tools aimed at improving the productivity of Nortel R&D. Our portfolio concentrates on tools for automated testing, capacity / performance / robustness / security testing, and the creation of virtual network environments for nodal testing.
You will work in a small virtual team based in Beijing and North America.
