We are a growing organization: we conduct railway-related business in the mainland of China, and we provide consultancy services in Europe and other places around the world.

We are also a leader in Hong Kong’s property market: we serve the community in places that people live, shop and work.

On 11 April 2006, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (the Government), setting out the terms of the proposed merger between MTR Corporation and the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC).

In June and July 2007, the Railway Merger Bill and relevant by-laws were passed in the Legislative Council and the proposed merger package was approved by our Independent Shareholders in the Merger Extraordinary General Meeting on 9 Oct.

Subject to the commencement of the Rail Merger Ordinance on a date to be appointed by the Government, the Merger could be implemented before the end of 2007.

After the Merger, we will have a bigger railway network and there will be more opportunities for business expansion.Our staff will have more job satisfaction and career development opportunities.
