That’s why we invest in your initial learning and development and encourage you to continue developing throughout your career. Challenge Program for you –typically lasting three years – are structured to help you understand the business, to know what’s expected of you and to help you pursue your own professional goals. You’ll usually have three placements and an opportunity to undertake a variety of tasks on different types of projects, with formal training supplemented by on-job experience, personal mentoring, teamwork, expert advice and regular appraisal and feedback. You’ll also have support from a buddy (someone who knows the ropes and can help you settle in quickly).　 grow and progress After you have completed your early development training programme, in an organization as large and diverse as BP, opportunities are vast. Functional roles include the majority of exploration, operations, development and production geoscientist roles and there is scope to work all over the world.You could choose to stay closely involved with technology throughout your career, where top performing technical specialists become senior or distinguished advisers or heads of discipline, roles that can command six-figure salaries. Or you might decide to move across to a commercial role or follow a business leadership career path – many people cross the boundaries during their career as they take on new experiences and develop new skills. There are no hard and fast rules for career development: anything is possible if you have the ability and enthusiasm.
